Home Tour
We've been in our home almost four months. It's hard to believe. My husband and I were just reliving the chaos of those first few weeks. We moved in with a 2-year-old and a 6-week-old baby.
I don't recommend our journey to our dream house, but that's the way it all shook out. Looking back, we pushed ourselves too much to unpack, sort through and donate a million things, simply settle in to our house--oh, yeah, and take care of two really tiny humans. I remember getting to a point where we just couldn't unpack another box. Nobody's moving until our oldest goes to college. So, I've got 16 years to recover and prepare.
But, I digress. We're all here to see the dang house. Without further ado, welcome to our home.
This door. It still gives me all the feels. Finding something for this big long wall was a challenge, too. I finally decided on a set of botanical prints. Throughout the whole house, I wanted to keep all the accessories neutral and really let the details of the house shine.
I love our living room. I love our rug. I love our furniture. I love the fireplace. I love it all. In case you're wondering, yes, that rug is part of the Lotus Collection from Magnolia Home x Loloi. Most of the furniture in our home came from our store. It can be yours, too. <wink, wink>
And then the angels starting singing. I. LOVE. MY. KITCHEN. It's an absolute dream to cook in here. From the inset shaker cabinets and stainless appliances, to the perfect shade of creamy white and our beautiful counters...it's perfect. What's on our counters, you ask? It's leathered (or sometimes called antique) black granite. I'll leave the story of how we picked that out for another day.
Here's my escape. It's our master bath. We did a matte hexagon-dot tile on the floor with a warm medium gray grout. On the counters, we did carrara marble. In both the master bath and the kitchen, all the hardware is polished nickel.
Ok, I lied. This is my favorite place in the whole house. There's a funny story about the first time I tried this beauty out. For another day.
Here's where our little buckaroo sleeps...sometimes through the night. Lately, not so much.
We have a Jack 'n Jill suite setup for our kids. They have a common sink area and the bathtub and toilet are behind a separate door. I'm hoping this arrangement works out when they're teenagers. I wanted to do a slight departure in the kids' bathroom as well as our guest bathroom. I kept the foundation the same with the tile, cabinet style, wall color, etc. We went with a stained cabinet, oil rubbed bronze hardware and a beautiful marble to play off the darker tones. There is so much white in our home, I felt this was a brave and noble departure.
Our toddler gets to sleep in this dreamy space. I love her bedding. Swoon. There are a few more photos in the gallery below. More specific details to come!
