Chase Culp Eagle Scout

This one starts with a great kid. Most of us can look back on our teen years and can honestly say we weren’t working hard to achieve something that statistically only four percent of those who set out to earn it actually does. Chase is one of those kids. He’s nearing the finish line of earning his Eagle Scout.

His mom asked me to not only take a few portraits of him beforehand but also be there to photograph his ceremony. A first for me, but an honor nonetheless. Stay tuned for those photos.

We had a lot of laughs during this shoot. I was trying to explain to Chase (and his mom) how my personality has to change just a bit depending on who I’m working with. With brides, I need to be encouraging, complimentary, and all those things to make them feel beautiful and see how beautiful they are on their wedding day. Women encouraging women is a whole story for another day. But, when I’m taking photos of kids, I’m jumping around, making animal noises and playing peek-a-boo. I demonstrated for Chase and had him in stitches. Who would have thought that trick would work on a teenage boy, too?
